New Tax Credit Guidelines
November 16, 2009
The National Association of Homes Builders has just published this brochure explaining the increase income guidelines for the first time buyer tax credit program. First time buyers are eligible for up to $8000 in tax credits. This means that the government sends you money!
There’s also a section in the brochure for buyers who have bought a home before and would like to take advantage of the $6500 tax credit for their next home.
Don’t Cry! It’s just a Weep Hole!

My New Brick House Has Gaps in the Bricks!
Yes, that’s right! You will see holes between some of the bricks near the foundation of your new Jerry Wright home.
These holes are a planned part of construction and should be kept open.
The brick on your home provides an attractive, low maintenance exterior, but
does not support the actual structure of the home.
This brick veneer has an air space behind it where moisture can gather, either
when it rains (water soaks thru the brick) or when the weather is humid and interior
temperatures differ from exterior temperatures causing condensation.
The holes you see are called “weep holes”. They allow any moisture behind
the walls to evaporate. This keeps your home healthy.
Be sure to keep these holes open. Please keep built up flower beds below
the level of the weep holes, as water can flow into the house and termites or other pests could
follow.
If you are concerned about pests like ants and spiders entering through these
holes, contact a pest inspector for suggestions on how to treat your yard.
West Fort Hood Commute Times
November 4, 2009
West Fort Hood is a busy place and military personnel working at that
location on Ft Hood TX are always concerned about commute times from Killeen and
Copperas Cove.
If you will be working at West Fort Hood, consider living in either
Trimmier Estates in Killeen or House Creek North in Copperas Cove.
Commute time from Trimmier Estates to West Fort Hood is about 20-25
minutes. Take Stan Schlueter Loop to Clear Creak Road to get access to the
base.
Commute time from House Creek North to West Fort Hood is about 25-30
minutes. You have several options, so try all of them to find the best
times to travel each one. One favorite route is to take FM 116 through
Copperas Cove to HWY 190, the turn on MLK Avenue, then to Constitution Avenue
and turn right to go to the gate.
